Today, we are proud to announce the launch of our new help desk system, powered by Kayako. The help desk system will allow us to better serve you, so we ask that you please use it for all future support requests. You can submit a support request in two different ways:

When using the help desk system, you will also be able to track the status of your ticket and get updates on the work being done. Our help desk system also features a Knowledge Base which will include helpful information on known problems, hotfixes, and simple, do-it-yourself quick fixes. We would love to hear any and all feedback on this new system and please, enjoy using it!

Today, I’d like to shine the spotlight on a useful web-based tool I’ve come across: passphra.se. Passphra.se is a tool that will generate a complex passphrase that is comprised of common words. This allows you to have a long, complex passphrase that will be hard to crack while also being simple enough to remember. If you have been in the habit of using a short and simple password, I highly recommend you check passphra.se out.

Recommended Upgrade: Internet Explorer 9

In this article, I’d like to highlight Microsoft’s latest update to their Internet Explorer product: Internet Explorer 9. In this latest iteration of IE, Microsoft did a lot to improve both the visual appeal of the browser, as well as improve the rendering of websites. However, the most important feature Microsoft added in to IE9 is something called “SmartScreen.” Essentially, SmartScreen acts as a filter between your computer and the internet, actively protecting your computer from many forms of attacks and malware.

SmartScreen provides you with 3 levels of protection:

Anti-phising Protection which screens out imposter sites that try to obtain your personal information by pretending to be a legitimate website

Application Reputation which will remove unnecessary warnings for trusted files but show severe warnings for potentially unsafe downloads

Anti-malware Protection which prevents potentially harmful software from being installed on your computer

Recently NSS Labs, a private security research and testing organization released a series of reports, which showed that IE9 with SmartScreen is the leading browser when it comes to security. If you are not already running IE9 with SmartScreen, I highly recommend you upgrade. Welcome to MGA Consulting Services new website. Please bear with us while we continue to construct the pages. In an effort to further aid our current and future clients, we have decided to change up the style and direction of the website.
